David Beckham usually leads the way when it comes to footballers inking
the names of their children on their bodies but now superstar Lionel
Messi has taken it one step further by having his son’s hand prints
tattooed on one of his priceless legs.
The Barcelona and Argentina superstar has paid tribute to his four-month old son Thiago by having his name and tiny palm prints etched on his left calf.
Messi is no stranger to body art and already has a portrait of his mother tattooed on his shoulder.
The 25-year-old, a four time winner of the prestigious Ballon d’Or, picked Tuesday, which was Father’s Day in Spain, to have the work done.
The news caps a rewarding week for the Barcalona goal-scoring machine who has been told that a museum is to be built in his honour in his home city of Rosario.
The museum, which will also honour other famous sporting stars from the city, including Real Madrid’s Angel Di Maria, is to open shortly in an old army base.
Messi was on the books of Rosario club Newell’s Old Boys before moving to Barcelona when he was just 12 years old.
